This one-of-a-kind ring was designed as a quiet exploration of contrast — darkness and light, movement and stillness, rarity and restraint.
At its center is a natural black opal sourced from Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, Australia — the most revered and historically significant origin for true black opal in the world. Lightning Ridge is the only region globally known for producing solid black opal with naturally dark body tones (N1–N4) and strong, high-contrast play-of-color.
The opal in this ring displays a deep N4 body tone, allowing its colors to emerge from within the stone rather than sitting on the surface. As the ring moves, flashes of red, blue, green, yellow, and orange appear and disappear — a hallmark of collector-grade Lightning Ridge material. Red fire, the rarest and most sought-after color in black opal, is visibly present.
The sculptural form draws inspiration from wheat and feather motifs, symbols of continuity, abundance, and quiet strength. Flowing curves wrap and intertwine like a tied ribbon, rendered in solid 18K white gold and accented with natural diamonds, sapphires, and rubies. The bright white diamonds are intentionally set against the dark opal base to heighten contrast and emphasize the stone’s depth.
